Yahoo with big losses

The internet provider Yahoo has published its quarterly report for the months July to September. This confirms a net loss of 24.1 million US dollars (51.6 million DM). That results in a loss of 4 US cents per share.

The company reports, if one would deduct certain charges, Yahoo still made a profit of 8.1 million US dollars. Yahoo is also being put under pressure from ailing advertising revenues on the Internet. Although non-advertising revenues have increased by 30 percent and revenues from premium services have doubled since last year, the company must be restructured, according to CFO Susan Decker. Yahoo plans to announce on November 15th whether and how many layoffs this will entail. In April Yahoo had already parted ways with 400 employees (12 percent of the workforce). The analysts on Wall Street continue to anticipate declines in sales at Yahoo.
