Xbox cheaper in Japan than in Europe and USA
On March 14th, the Europe-wide starting shot for the Xbox will be given. In Japan, however, the new game console will be launched on February 22nd. The Japanese not only get to the Xbox three weeks earlier, but also much cheaper.
As Microsoft announced today at a press conference in Tokyo, the Playstation 2 and Gamecube competitor will be over the counter for 34,800 yen walk. At the current exchange rate, this would be around 295 euros in this country. This means that the Xbox is around 184 euros cheaper in Japan than in this country with its 479 euros. Furthermore, the bulky controller of the original should be more manageable and significantly smaller in the version localized for the Japanese market. At the launch date, 12 titles will be waiting for customers on the shelves, which cost 6,800 yen (58 euros) up to 9,500 yen (84 euros).
