Winter time, worm time?
Nimda, BadTrans and what they are all called. So-called email worms seem to be booming at the moment. The latest and probably also extremely dangerous representative is, according to Panda Software, the 'Reeezak.A'.
The virus arrives on the computer via email with the subject 'Happy New Year'. The attached Christmas.exe file contains not only a nice Flash animation but also the worm's routines. This copies itself to the Windows directory after the start, sends itself to all entries in Outlook, MSN or MAPI and blocks the keyboard. In addition, he enters himself into the autostart, changes the start page and the name of the computer in Internet Explorer and executes himself as often as necessary until the system comes to a standstill. Leading manufacturers of anti-virus software have already announced the necessary countermeasures. An update should therefore not hurt.
