Windows2000 Service Pack 2 is getting closer

The latest beta (Build 2.146) of the upcoming service pack for Windows2000 is available in English and German since today. As Microsoft announced, the links were only sent to around 100 testers who are now supposed to find the last remaining bugs. It is still not known when the final version will be available for everyone to download.

In addition, attentive users have discovered a few new keys in the registry after installing the Internet Explorer 6.0 Beta under Windows 2000, which indicate that Microsoft might want to integrate copy protection at a later date. Apparently, the activation principle, already known from WindowsXP, will soon make Windows2000 more secure from piracy. Whether it is just a test or in which way the system should be installed later (IE, service pack, patch) is still pure speculation.
