Windows XP Service Pack 1 beta test will start shortly

Every year there is a new Windows and with it a whole series of updates a short time later. This is of course no different with Windows XP. The Redmond-based software giant has now informed the first beta testers about the Service Pack 1 beta test, which is about to begin.

As always Little is known about the innovations that will be introduced with the first service pack. The fact is, however, that the numerous small bug fixes that can now be downloaded from WindowsUpdate.com and that add up to just under 30 MB with a fresh installation of Windows XP will move to Service Pack 1. Overall, Service Pack 1 will be available in three versions. There will be two “standalone” versions to bring an existing Windows XP Professional or Home Edition up to date. There will also be an 'Integrated' solution in which the SP1 updates will be pressed onto the Windows XP CD at the same time.

All invited testers have until May 3, 2002 to express their interest. The Service Pack 1 test itself should not start before mid-May.
