Windows XP Patch for Mobile Athlon 4
Windows XP is not even officially available in stores, as the Redmond-based company is already launching a first patch for its newest offspring. The patch should be particularly important for owners of a notebook with an Athlon 4 processor.
In order to reduce power consumption, it has a function called PowerNow !, which activates the processor with a low clock frequency and a operates at low voltage. Unfortunately, Windows XP Home or Professional Edition does not support this function out of the box, which of course noticeably reduces the life of the notebook battery. The patch that is now available, which can be downloaded from Microsoft, is intended to correct this fact. It will also be part of the first service pack for Windows XP, which development has already started.
