Windows ME possibly as early as June
Microsoft's new operating system, Windows Millennium Edition (Me) will probably be ready sooner than expected. According to rumors, the finished version of the Windows 98 successor will be presented on May 26th.
Nothing is yet officially, but shortly before delivery of Beta 3 of the Windows 98 successor Millennium Edition (Me), rumors are growing in America that MS will present the final build of Windows ME on May 26th. The German version is supposed to follow on June 9th. Nothing is known about the price at the moment, and experts are still divided on the success of the new product. In any case, it is clear that Me will aim purely at the consumer market, and there is even talk of the new system's network capability being only limited. Whether Me will be a complete success should primarily depend on the price. If this is not significantly below that of Windows 2000, for which many game manufacturers are currently adapting their products, the customer will probably think twice about whether to buy Me or whether it is better to switch to the NT-based 2000.
