Western Digital with 120 GB hard drive
Western Digital has presented the new top model in its Caviar series: an Ultra-ATA100 hard drive with a capacity of 120 GB. Another manufacturer has exceeded the magical 100 GB limit.
The new disk from Western Digital (WD) runs at 7200 revolutions per minute and has three 40 GB platters inside. According to the company, the access time for reading is 8.9 milliseconds and for writing 10.9 milliseconds. The disk has an Ulra-ATA100 interface and 2 MB internal cache memory. The operating noise should be between 35 db (A) and 39 db (A).
