Voodoo successor 'Specter'

Voodoo successor 'Specter'

The Voodoo successor 'Specter' is to be presented in spring 2001. The VSA-100 successor 'Rampage' will be used as the new graphics chip.

But the new 3dfx will be added as further innovations Cards now finally have their own transform and lightning chip, which should take over the calculation of the geometry and lighting effects. Both chips together then make up the 'Specter'. This combination should make a calculation of a maximum of 3.2 Giga-Texels per second possible. The 'rampage' is said to have 4 texture pipelines and the memory clock of the DDR RAM is 200 MHz. It is therefore very unlikely that the announced Voodoo5 6000 with 4 VSA-100 chips will be released.
