VIA's KT266 successor in the 1st quarter of 2002

If you believe the testimony of an employee of the mainboard company Lucky Star, VIA's successor to the current KT266 (A) chipset will be available on the first boards around March 2002.

The chip will be that soon to support the PC2700 growing to the standard and have an ATA133 interface in the Southbridge. In order to achieve the high data throughput, the PC2700 specification includes increasing the front-side bus to 166Mhz (or 333 according to DDR method). In this context, the successor to the SiS735, the SiS745, is highly anticipated. In the near future, this should be found on Elitegroup motherboards, among other things, and will once again stand out due to its particularly low price.
