VIA: New chipset for Duron and Athlon systems
Today the new Apollo ProSavage KM133 chipset was officially presented by AMD and VIA. As you might guess from the name, the chipset works with AMD's Duron and Athlon CPUs. The KM133 is a further development of the KT133 chipset for Socket A boards.
The integrated graphics processor in the chipset, which largely corresponds to the Savage-4 chip from S3/SonicBlue, is completely new. The new chipset is very important for AMD. Although the Duron offers better performance than the Celeron from Intel, the Duron has not yet really caught on in the market. The reason given is the lack of inexpensive boards with integrated graphics, which are especially interesting for beginners. Except for the processor interface, the KM133 is identical to the PM133 for Socket 370 processors. Of course you can also use an AGP graphics card instead of the integrated one with KM133 boards
