VIA KX133 compatible with AMD Thunderbird
The Athlon successor with the code name Thunderbird is not compatible with the Via KX-133 chipset. The Thunderbird can only run on the AMD Irongate.
For this reason, AMD wants to bring the Thunderbird in the slot A version only as an OEM version on the market. For all others who are not lucky enough to have an Irongate chipsat, that means buying a new Socket A motherboard, which is then equipped with the Via KZ-133, for example, and which will be 100% compatible with the Thunderbird and Duron. I just hope that it won't be too difficult for Irongate owners to get the OEM Thunderbirds for Slot-A, otherwise they would have to buy a new mainboard. (I also have an Irongate mainboard and I hope that you can still get the Slot-A T-Birds somewhere except in complete systems!)
