At first glance an unmanageable flood of beams. After a closer look Quake3Arena has some interesting details ready.

In the lowest resolution, in the board and CPU the lack of limitation of the graphics card, the 8K3A + is again in the lead with the fastest possible memory timing, but in second place is its predecessor, the 8KHA +, which again clearly outshines the MSI KT3 Ultra with 2FPS. The nForce 415-D of the A7N266-C completes the top quartet. The slower running versions of the KT333 as well as the operation with DDR266 are lagging behind again.

The resolution 800x600 can almost be seen as a minor debacle for the KT333. Despite the maximum performance that can be hollowed out of the chipset, the KT266A steals the show from its successor and is in first place. The KT3 is again behind the 8K3A + and here, too, the KT333 with DDR266 falls far behind the KT266A.

In the two graphically demanding resolutions, the 8K3A + and the KT3 can take the lead for the first time. The results at a resolution of 1600x1200 are so close together that the measurement inaccuracy can contribute its part to the ranking.

  • The GLMark again shows the KT266 of the EPoX 8KHA + as the fastest chipset in the low resolution and replaces the KT333 places two and three. In 1024x768, the 8K3A takes the lead in front of the KT3. However, this does not hide the fact that the KT266A and the nForce, if they are operated with optimal memory timings, easily put the KT333 in its place in connection with bad memory.

    Since this picture is reflected in WinACE as well as in Quake3Arena, we allow ourselves a small interim conclusion at this point: The operation of the KT333 with DDR266 for cost reasons or the use ofLow-performing memory (CL2.5) ultimately makes no sense. The predecessor, represented by the KT266A, can easily prevail in this case with optimal settings. High-quality memory is also easy and cheap to get for this chip.
