VIA announces chipsets for the next generation of processors from AMD

Certainly not unexpectedly, VIA announced the development of a whole range of chipsets for AMD's upcoming eighth processor generation at Computex in Taipei. Both the next Athlon processors and the Opteron, which is initially reserved for the workstation sector, will find broad support from VIA.

All chipsets should have HyperTransportT, AGP 8X, Double-Speed V-Link and USB 2.0 . Individual variants will also have an integrated 2D/3D graphics solution. For the time being, the chipsets will be listed as the 'K8 series'.
