VDSL: Twelve times faster to download than DSL

Very High Rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) should upload up to 80 times faster than conventional ADSL and enable data transmission of ten Mbit/s over normal copper cables, which would make the download a good twelve times faster than ADSL.

The new process will be presented from March 13th to 20th at CeBIT in Hall 16, Stand B14 of the Optical Access company. This technology is made possible by a special VDSL modem that divides the copper line into three areas. Telephone services continue to be handled via the narrow band, the second band is used as a connection between the VDSL provider and the customer and the third is reserved solely for data transmission between the service provider and the customer. For the installation at the customer only a VDSL Home Unit has to be installed in the apartment. It contains a splitter for normal telephone service and a power supply unit. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not yet provide any information about the required modem, prices and availability, but you will definitely find out more here at CeBIT.
