Transmeta with new Crusoe processors

The manufacturer Transmeta, known for its particularly energy-saving processors, officially presented the new processors that were already announced in the past, which are manufactured in 0.13 µm.

These are the Crusoe processors TM5800 and TM5500, which apart from the improved manufacturing technology do not differ from their predecessors. But just through this 'small' change, among other things, the power consumption of the processors could be reduced by another 20 percent. The core voltage of the processor is also below the level of its predecessor, which all in all lowered the operating temperatures and thus paved the way for higher clock frequencies. The price of the up to 800MHz fast TM5800 will be 198 dollars in quantities of 1000 pieces. The somewhat slower TM5500, on the other hand, is currently only available in versions with up to 733MHz, with the 667MHz version changing hands for $ 85. Incidentally, the chips are manufactured at TSMC, who have already taken over the manufacture of the Kyro 2.
