Toshiba notebook with Transmeta processor
Toshiba is now the third manufacturer after Sony and Nec to launch a notebook based on the energy-saving Transmeta processor. According to US reports, the processor will be used in the 'Libretto' mini-notebook.
This collaboration is particularly important for the processor manufacturer, as many manufacturers have so far been reluctant to use Transmeta products. The libretto should be just 2cm thick and around 25cm wide. The weight should be 1.2kg, with a 10GB hard drive and a 10 inch TFT display to be used. Whether Toshiba will offer the libretto on the European market due to the negative experience with mini-notebooks is unfortunately not yet known.
