The number of German surfers continues to rise

According to a study by NetValue, almost 17,000,000 Germans surfed the Internet in April of this year. That is an increase of 2.6 million compared to the same period last year, and almost three quarters of a million (682,000) surfers more than a month before.

The majority of surfers are still male users, only almost 39 percent of German Internet surfers are female. At 32.7 percent, 35 to 49 year olds surf the Internet the most. The majority of German surfers, at 41.1 percent, opted for T-Online to access the Internet, ahead of AOL with at least 21.4 percent, and with 10.9 percent for Freenet. T-Online also ranks first among the most visited providers with 56.2 percent. The search engine Google recorded the strongest growth with 44 percent, followed by AOL with 41.3 percent.
