Telekom: Missed billion dollar order

The Bundeswehr is currently running a project to set up a uniform communication and IT infrastructure, which goes by the name of 'Hercules'. According to the Ministry of Defense, the order is worth almost six to six and a half billion euros over a period of ten years.

In conversation Deutsche Telekom, IBM and Siemens, among others, are providing the Bundeswehr with the new hardware that is now required. In all likelihood, however, these will come out empty-handed after the competing consortium of the Bundeswehr, consisting of MobilCom and the armaments company EADS, has been shortlisted. Thus, a billion-dollar deal would pass Telekom by, and accordingly the T-share fell to a new permanent low. Now the application of the consortium, which goes by the name 'Isic 21', is being examined more closely. If the deal should break unexpectedly, Telekom could still be happy: Only then would the Ministry of Defense come back to Telekom. A spokesman also emphasized that they wanted to make a decision as quickly as possible, but an exact time frame or even an appointment could not be given. The shares are of course not entirely unaffected by such reports, so, as already mentioned, the T-share fell another piece to a low, with the MobilCom share remaining in the red despite the good news.
