Telecom price increases

Today, Telekom announced price increases for DSL, ISDN and analog connections for May 1st. The background to this is the massive complaints from the competition and the review by the regulatory authority (RegTP) because prices are too low.

Die Connection fees are supposed to rise by about three percent, provided that the RegTP approves the price increase. The T-Net connection will be increased to € 13.30, the ISDN connection to € 23.60 per month. Small consolation: due to the introduction of the euro, local calls will be cheaper, instead of 6.2 cents only 6 cents per unit will be charged. DSL prices will also be increased, with ISDN comfort connection to € 12.99, with T-ISDN 300 or XXL to € 9.99, only with analog connection the price will drop by 41 cents to € 19.99. For new customers, the new tariffs should apply from February 25th. The increase in the activation fee will also turn out to be steep for them. Here, from June 1, € 74.95 (+45 percent) and from January 1, 2003 € 99.95 (+33 percent) are due. In an initial statement from the RegTP, its President Matthias Kurth welcomed the planned price increases, as these would have a long-term positive effect on the variety of offers. Customers who already have a DSL connection will be informed about the changes in good time and can terminate the connection if they wish.
