T-Online is making losses

T-Online made a loss of 14.4 million euros (over 28 million DM) in the first 9 months of this year. And this even though the group has almost doubled its turnover.

If the proceeds from the comdirekt Bank's IPO were not added to the books, T-Online would even have a loss of 53.5 million euros (over 100 million DM). T-Online will not announce the final figures until November 30th. The reason for the high losses despite doubling sales is said to be the newly introduced flat rate. Thanks to the flat rate, T-Online has many new customers - the number of customers rose from 3.6 million to 6 million - and, thanks to the contract period, has been able to secure a long-term commitment to them, but whether the price is worth it remains to be seen>
