Surfing at work is regulated by law
According to information from the 'Handelsblatt', private surfing at work should be legally permitted. The employee should be allowed to surf privately at the workplace and send emails, but the employer can invoice the employee for costs.
The Federal Ministry of Labor confirmed to the 'Handelsblatt' that the new 'employee Data Protection Act 'is to be passed in this legislative period. However, surfing in the workplace can be restricted by collective agreements or individual agreements. The surfing behavior of the employee should in no case be checked or even evaluated.
