Supercomputers with AMD processors
The first supercomputer based on AMD's Athlon processors will be presented today at the 'Unversity of Delaware'. The computer will be equipped with 132 1GHz CPUs, MSI K7T Pro mainboards and 512MB PC133 SDRAM per processor.
These are arranged in an 11x12 matrix to come as close as possible to the shape of a square. The number of processors should even be reduced to 128 in order to model a perfect cube. According to the Delaware Research Institute, this machine will be in the top 200 in the world. AMD is now not only active in the area of desktop and notebook processors, but also in cluster computers.
