Soon VIA 1GHz processor
VIA, so far better known for mainboard chipsets, announced today that a 1GHz processor is planned and will be launched in the first half of next year. So far, however, VIA has had less luck with their 'powerful' processors.
The 500MHz processor, so highly touted at CeBIT, is slower than the Celeron 300A thanks to the lack of L2 cache. The GHz processor (code name: Samuel 2) should be manufactured in a 0.15 µm process and run up to a clock limit of 1.2 GHz.
