Sony notebook with Crusoe processor
Sony has announced that it will be releasing a notebook with a Crusoe processor from Transmeta at the end of October, which will be characterized in particular by a long battery life.
The Sony Vaio Picturebook weighs around 1 kilogram, one inch (2 , 54cm) thick, has 128 MB of memory and a video camera. It is not yet known which Crusoe processor is specifically used in the Sony notebook, but it is assumed that the choice fell on the TM5600, which has a 512 KByte integrated L2 cache and should consume around 10 percent less power than it is little brother of the TM5400. According to Sony, this would allow operation for up to 5.5 hours. The price of the notebook should be 2299 US dollars, which would be 5200 DM at the current euro exchange rate.
