Slot A motherboards and the Thunderbird

After AMD claimed after the release of the VIA KX133 that the SlotA Thunderbird was probably not compatible with this chipset and that there could also be problems with the operation of the Thunderbird in the old Irongate chipset, C't has some SlotA motherboards with them VIA and AMD chipset examined for their compatibility with the Thunderbird.

Here are the boards that passed the test:

  • AMD Irongate chipset: AMI MegaThon 804, Asus K7M , DFI AK70, Freetech P7F200A2, Gigabyte GA-7IXE, MSI K7 Pro, Shuttle A61, Soyo SY-K7AIA
  • VIA KX133 chipset: Asus K7V, Chaintech 7ATA, Epox 7KXA, Jetway 771AS, LuckyStar K7VA133, QDI KinetiZ 7A, Soltek 77KV
