Seagate Barracuda ATA III
Seagate launches the next generation of Barracuda high-speed records. The third generation achieves 7200 rpm like the second and has an equally large cache of 2048KByte, but Seagate uses 20GByte magnetic disks.
The maximum capacity of the ATA III should be 40GByte. Furthermore Seagate uses the Ultra-ATA/100 interface and a fluid storage, which should ensure a long service life and quiet operation. According to Seagate, the average access time is 8.9 ms, the data transfer rate 62.5 MB/s, 37% more than the predecessor. Seagate has not yet announced prices.
