Samsung plans to work with AMD

Samsung Electronic is currently planning to use AMD processors for their desktop computers. The reason for this are discontinuous deliveries and delivery failures of the Pentium 4 processor from Intel. AMD should now fix this leak.

In South Korea there has been a bottleneck with Pentium 4 processors for a good three months. This is annoying for Samsung because the biggest competitor in this market, TriGem, is making good sales with its Athlon XP systems. According to reports from a Taiwanese industry magazine, Samsung is now said to have started negotiations on a cooperation with AMD. A Samsung system with a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 processor currently costs around 3,300 DM, a comparable system with Athlon XP 1700+ is said to be a good 700 DM cheaper.
