Samsung increases 1066 Rambus production

Samsung announced today in a press release that it is increasing production of the 1066 RDRAM modules to meet rapidly growing demand. Both 128 MByte and 256 MByte modules of the new 1066-Rambus should be available immediately.

Samsung is currently holding According to its own information, over 60 percent of the Rambus market is firmly in its hands, making it the undisputed market leader when it comes to RDRAM. With the new 1066 modules, Samsung wants to further expand its leading position and offer the fastest storage solution on the market. Samsung is targeting PCs and workstations on the one hand, but also professional game consoles. Samsung is currently delivering large numbers of the new Rambus to leading motherboard manufacturers who have Intel's 850E chipset in their range, as it can be used particularly well here. Samsung assumes that the officially unsupported but faster 1066 Rambus will prevail in this area in particular, as many Intel customers rely on the highest possible performance. So it might soon not be too difficult for the end customer to get 1066 RDRAM modules, as was often the case in the past.
