Release of the Pentium 3 Tualatin
Intel today released the Intel Pentium 3 Tualatin with a clock frequency of 1.13 GHz without prior notice. As we reported yesterday, this processor, manufactured with the advanced 0.13 µm technology, will initially only be available for servers.
According to company-related sources, the mobile version can be expected in the next few months Clock frequencies of 866MHz to 1.13GHz should come onto the market. It is now clear that the Tualatin has an L2 cache of 512 kilobytes and runs as expected with a frontside bus of 133MHz. Allegedly, Intel has also further improved the energy-saving Speedstep process. Only after the notebook version should desktop and Xeon server versions enter the race. The next step for Intel will be to increase the processor speed from 1.13 GHz to 1.2 GHz.
