RegTP takes T-DSL prices under the microscope again

RegTP is now taking a close look at Deutsche Telekom's DSL prices for the second time. As the Bonn authority announced, a rate regulation procedure was initiated against Telekom after it had already been criticized in November for its delaying tactics towards competitors.

There is also a suspicion that the DSL prices are not cost-covering. As RegTP President Matthias Kurth announced, 'Deutsche Telekom AG unfortunately did not take advantage of the opportunity to eliminate the competitive imbalance in the DSL market through its own adjustment measures and let a request on my part pass'. With this, the proceedings against Telekom, which ended in March 2001, are now being resumed, in which one came to the conclusion that Telekom's DSL tariffs were 'partly not cost-covering'. At the time, however, no crowding-out effect through the telecom prices could be proven, which led to the termination of the proceedings.
