Record year for AMD
The chip manufacturer AMD looks back on the past year as the 'most successful fiscal year in the company's history' without having met Wall Street's expectations in the fourth quarter.
AMD increased its total sales in 2000 to a total 4.64 billion US dollars, or 63 percent. Total earnings are $ 983 million, or $ 2.89 per share. For 2001, AMD is also expecting a lot. The main buyer of flash memory, Palm, has extended the contract until 2003, and AMD plans to release the 1.3 GHz Athlon in the first quarter of this year. The Palomino will follow in the second quarter with clock speeds of 1.4 and 1.5 GHz and an optimized core.
