Recall for the 1.13 GHz Intel Pentium III
As has now been announced by some Intel representatives, the 1.13GHz Pentium III is to be recalled and its delivery stopped.
The reason for this are instabilities of the processor, the original comment of an Intel spokesman: 'We found borderline conditions in the product within certain operating temperatures and certain code sequences of applications. We are not satisfied with the chip and will withdraw him. ' IBM and Dell react immediately and withdrew their 1.13GHz Pentium III models from the market. According to Intel, the processor should appear on the market in a revised version in a few months, which should then no longer show any instabilities. The fastest Intel Pentium III would be the 1GHz version again. In addition, it must be said that the 1.1GHz Athlon has been on the market since Monday and thus the MHz and performance crown goes back to AMD.
