PowerMagic ATI Radeon 8500 in the test: Swan song for the GeForce3?
3DMark 2000
3DMark 2000 from Madonion.com is a popular but purely synthetic DirectX 7.0 benchmark and says little about the actual benchmark Game performance. It has now found a successor in 3DMark2001, but is still a benchmark in terms of performance for graphics cards.
The Powermagic Radeon 8500 overtakes the Inno3D Geforce3 by almost 10% from a resolution of 1024x768, but the overclocking makes itself felt the Radeon 8500 at 275/275 Mhz only really noticeable from a resolution of 1280x1024.
In 32 bit color depth the Powermagic Radeon 8500 can be compared to the Inno3D Geforce3 only narrowly claim. Much more interesting is the aspect that the Radeon clocked at 275/275 Mhz can hardly record a performance advantage, which is not due to the card, but to the current driver, as it has lost around 300 points in resolutions up to 1024x768.
