Plastic processors are being researched
Researchers at the University of Cambridge are currently working on behalf of Plastic Logic to develop a process that allows processors to be manufactured with plastic instead of silicon. The company is said to have already succeeded in applying plastic to a substrate made of polymer.
The benefit: You have much cheaper end products and, by the way, flexible plastic transistors. It is hoped that if the research continues to be so successful, the first samples will be presented as early as the summer of 2001.
