Lightwave

Since the results so far in 3D rendering have not convinced us in any way, we have now included Lightwave 7.0b in our test circuit. This is software that has been specifically optimized for Pentium 4, whereas the previous 3D rendering tests showed no optimization for one of the two processors. The result of this test should therefore not surprise you.

Actually, we could have saved ourselves this test. Even with applications that were not optimized for Pentium 4, the Athlon XP could not oppose the latest Pentium 4 evolutionary stage, with a Pentium 4 optimized application, a winning performance of the AMD processors is still a lot less likely. The two processor families are separated by more than a minute, so that there is not much need to be discussed in the bush.

As in older tests, the Pentium 4 can also beat the competition when it comes to rendering the Radiosity Reflecting Thing sceneclearly outdo. Almost 40 percent performance separates the fastest Athlon XP and the slowest Pentium 4 Northwood representative in our test.
