Seti @ Home

We are particularly proud of the inclusion of the text client from Seti @ Home (3.03) in our comparison test. Due to the long runtime, this should give a clear picture of the performance of the individual processors. In order to keep the results comparable, the same work unit with an angle range of 0.417 was used.

At Seti, all processors are actually quite close to each other. The winner with a processing time of the equivalent of 2 hours and 48 minutes is of course the new Pentium 4. The performance advantage due to the higher front-side bus is negligible.

WinACE

Around the To further clarify the sense and nonsense of a faster processor for frequently used applications, we used WinACE version 2.11 at this point. The task of the program was to pack a 200 MB WAV audio file at the maximum compression level (4096k) as an ACE file.

WinACE also belongs to the Pentium 4 domain. In this test in particular, the importance of theRAM visible, which can save no less than 15 seconds. The Athlon XP 2100+ lines up in front of its own kind at the end of the test field.
