Pentium 4 Mobile with up to 2 GHz
The Pentium 4 Mobile planned for next year will finally provide the notebook market with desktop performance. The high clock frequencies are made possible by the improved core. The new power-saving mechanisms help to save energy.
Intel has announced the mobile version of the Pentium 4 processor. The 1.5 GHz version will be delivered in the first half of 2002, and later processors with up to 2 GHz. The new Pentium, called P4-M, will have an FSB of 400 MHz, extended SIMD extensions and the new 'Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology'. At the same time, the 845MP, the mobile version of the DDR chipset 845D, is released. The improved SpeedStep technology should help the processor to achieve higher clock frequencies with lower power consumption than before.
