Only zip attachments in Outlook 2002
As a press spokesman for Microsoft announced today, the version of Outlook 2002 contained in Office XP will accept the zip format as the only type for file attachments.
This is to prevent potentially dangerous file attachments such as applications or Visual Basic Scripts can be easily executed. Microsoft has made a list of 30 file types especially for this purpose, which are generally filtered by the new Outlook and which the user cannot do anything against. In the Release Candidate 1 version of Office XP available to me, however, some file attachments classified as dangerous, which according to the list should also include * .html, can be called without major problems. * .Exe files, however, are already in the current Office 2000 version rigorously blocked.
