Online gaming soon with the Nintendo GameCube

Online gaming will soon also be possible with Nintendo's game console, the GameCube. Corresponding adapters, for connection to a modem or DSL connection, should come onto the market this year. For the time being, however, only in the USA.

The adapter will cost around 35 dollars in the USA. The beginning with games adapted to online gaming will be a game by Sega. The game 'Phantasy Star Online - Episode I & II', which was actually developed for the Dremcast, is supposed to boost sales of the adapter. In order to stay up to date in the field of online gaming, Nintendo sends out development environments for programming online games for the GameCube. However, Nintendo does not seem to expect any big profits from this expansion, as the company does not see online gaming as the main application for their GameCube.
