Office XP with text recognition software
The very latest addition to the Microsoft Office family comes with a text recognition function from ScanSoft, which among other things developed the well-known OmniPage Pro software.
OfficeXP, which was officially presented and released for sale by the software giant Microsoft on Friday in New York, will contain, in addition to many detailed improvements in 20 language versions, a routine for optical character recognition, with which it is possible scan the printed lines of text with the help of a standard scanner and then edit this page like a normal Word document. The functional scope of the function called Office Document Imaging is limited to mere recognition, any text formatting is not taken into account. Nonetheless, the recognition rate of a beta version available to us was very good.
