nVidia officially launches the 12:41 PM detonator
Completely surprising, graphics card manufacturer nVidia yesterday officially put one of the most up-to-date beta drivers, which was already 'leaked' on the internet, on their download pages. The driver is version 12.41, which is technically identical to the 12.40, but has Microsoft's WHQL certificate.
nVidia had announced the release of a new driver, but it came as a surprise that it is practically the newest member of the Detonator series. Until now, the official versions have always lagged weeks, if not months, behind the beta versions. However, today's release seems to have been long overdue. After all, it is the first official driver that works with GeForce3 as well as WindowsXP and DirectX 8.0. Furthermore, nVidia has destroyed all speculations that the drivers from version 10.00 would belong to the Detonator 4 series. On the download page, the manufacturer speaks of the 'Detonator3 v12.41'. The drivers support TNT, TNT2, Vanta, GeForce256, GeForce2, GeForce3, Quadro and the Quadro2. Only the new 'GeForce2 Go' notebook chip is not supported. Official information and the drivers can be found here .
