nVidia NV20A in Microsoft's Xbox

The successor to the current graphics chips from nVidia, GeForce 2 GTS and GeForce 2 Ultra, is built into Microsoft's first game console, the 'Xbox'. This is a special version of the NV20A, which is expected to be clocked with 300 MHz core frequency.

The 33 million transistors enable the processing of four textures in one pass as well as full-scene anti-aliasing. It should also be possible to process compressed textures with a maximum packing rate of 6: 1. The NV20A delivers a maximum of 150 million polygons per second, as well as 100 million polygons with textures and effects per second. The maximum supported resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, DVD playback is also supported.
