nVidia integrates audio into its graphics chips

According to American press reports, nVidia's plans to combine audio and graphics chips are no longer a long way off. Such 'integrated audio chips' are supposed to have the same power as the normal sound cards from Creative and Terratec.

It is still unclear whether the special 3D sound features such as EAX and Aureal3D can also be supported . The advantage would be that one slot would be saved, since the sound would then run via the AGP interface. With a 20 percent market share, Nvidia can now really allow itself to try such 'experiments' on the market, especially since participating in Microsoft's Xbox will certainly not damage the company's course.
