nVidia code name 'NV20' is late
There are rumors that the GeForce2 GTS successor, code name NV20, will be a little late. The reason given for this is two alleged sources, one of which, however, from my point of view is essentially more plausible. Accordingly, the NV20 will rely entirely on the upcoming graphics API, DirectX 8.
For this reason, the release of the new chip will wait until the new DirectX version is ready to get the full one To be able to use the power of the NV20. Well, one can only honestly say that this assumption is correct, because the Beta 2 of DirectX 8 is already planned within the next two weeks and a final release and thus a release of the NV20 would not be so far off. But why should Nvidia bring out a new graphics chip when the existing chips, especially the new GeForce2 GTS Ultra, are hardly or not at all outperformed by the competition?
