nVidia announces GeForce2 Pro
nVidia announced today that another chip has been added to the GeForce2 graphics chip series. We're talking about the GeForce2 Pro, which, like its GeForce2 colleagues, is manufactured in 0.18 µm.
The only difference between the GeForce2 Pro and the previous models is the change in the memory rate. The chip clock was left at 200MHz, whereby the memory is now operated at 460 MHz (DDR memory clock). The performance of the card should be between the GeForce2 GTS (200MHz/333MHz) and the GeForce2 Ultra (250MHz/460MHz). At what time and at what price graphics cards with this chip will be available on the market is not yet known. It is only to be expected that manufacturers such as Creative, Elsa and Guillemot will offer such graphics solutions and that with either 32MB or 64MB DDR RAM.
