nVidia: Agreement with Apple
NVidia, previously only active in the PC sector, has signed an OEM agreement with Apple. According to this agreement, future Apple computers will be equipped with NVidia chips.
The newly developed GeForce 2 MX from NVidia is also suitable for use in Macs. It is still open whether the chip will be used as an onboard version or on a card. Since NVidia only produces the chip itself and no cards, the company is dependent on card manufacturers. It is still unclear whether it will be an exclusive contract and NVidia will take on the role of home supplier, formerly ATI. ATI continues to come under pressure as 3Dfx also wants to serve the Mac sector in the near future. Allegedly the first cards from 3Dfx are about to be ready for series production.
