Nvidia 8800M GTS and 8800M GTX presented

A good six months after the introduction of the mobile mid-range models of the 8th GeForce generation in the form of the GeForce 8400M G/GS/GT and GeForce 8600M GS/GT and around five months after the introduction of the slightly drilled out GeForce 8700M GT , Nvidia has now also announced the high-end chips 8800M GTS and 8800M GTX for notebooks.

The two new chips increase the number of shader units from a maximum of 32 ( 8600 GT/8700 GT) to 64 (8800M GTS) or 96 (8800M GTX). The memory interface increases to 256 bits. The GeForce 8800M GTX provides a maximum of 31.6 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth and 24.0 megatexels per second. Both chips have the PureVideo HD engine, which GTS and GTX based on G80 have not yet offered for the desktop (only cards based on G92 have the capability).
