NV30 comes out in August
Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has now confirmed what was previously only suspected: the successor to the GeForce4 Ti, currently known as the NV30, is due to hit the market in August. This means that Nvidia has a model cycle of just six months.
In contrast to the GeForce4 (NV25), the NV30 is supposed to be a fundamentally new architecture, says Huang. The chip will be manufactured by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation) in 0.13µ, but Huang has not yet announced more precise specifications.
He also announced that Nvidia will only produce motherboard chipsets for AMD processors, Huang also ruled out the development of such chipsets for Intel CPUs because of the necessary license.
