NV17 is to replace the GeForce 2 GTS/Pro
There will also be a variant of the GeForce 3 graphics chip for the mainstream market. This is developed under the internal name NV17 and its design should be based on the GeForce 3, i.e. fully DirectX 8 compatible.
The first samples should be ready in summer. Since no major delays like when the GeForce 3 was released, the graphics cards shouldn't be long in coming. According to nVidia, the finished models should cost no more than 150 US dollars and replace the GeForce 2 GTS/Pro, with which they will be about on par in terms of performance. The GeForce 2 MX series will be placed in the low-end segment after the release of the NV17.
